It’s late autumn and the fingertips are already getting a little cold and you need to put on a hat. Let’s go see what mushrooms we can find in late autumn and how they taste. About 1,200 species of mushrooms with legs and caps grow in Estonia, of which about 400 are edible. There are about 200 poisonous species, and 12-15 mushroom species can cause fatal poisoning. What poisonous mushrooms are similar to our beloved edible mushrooms? Is it too much for mycelium to pull a healthy mushroom out of the ground by its roots, or is it better to cut it by the leg? Mycologist Thank you Plum tree talks about all of this and shares his knowledge. Of course, we can only see and collect the species that nature offers us, so it cannot be guaranteed that the basket will be full. But it is still worth taking a bucket or a basket, as well as a small knife. Just in case, you can take an extra bag with you to separate the mild and bitter mushrooms. At the end of the trip, there will be a tasting where we will fry the picked mushrooms directly in the pan. We hope that the forest will be generous and everyone will get something to cook and new knowledge.
NB! It’s not just a tasting, but an end-of-season party, in addition to everything, we’ll also put a delicious cake on the table, enjoy hot coffee/tea and sum up the season. Be there!
