Installation guide

When using a wood-burning stove in a tent or shelter, always keep adequate safety clearances. We recommend at least 18 inches (~46 cm) between the stove and any combustible material. If you use a non-combustible heat shield or a fireproof floor protector/hearth pad, the clearances can be reduced by about half.

We strongly recommend using a triple-wall heat protector section and a flashing/sealing kit where the chimney exits the tent or shelter. Always make sure the chimney exits through a fireproof stove jack and that combustible materials are kept away from the stove and chimney.

Where possible, secure the stove legs with tent stakes, bolts or other suitable fasteners to reduce the risk of tipping over.

Safety instructions

Never leave a wood stove burning unattended. The surfaces of Winnerwell® stoves become very hot during use, so always wear leather gloves and be careful when handling the stove. Close supervision of children and pets is mandatory. If children or pets are nearby, we recommend using a safety fence/stove guard to prevent accidental contact with hot surfaces.

Use only clean, dry and well-seasoned firewood. Burning green wood can produce carbon monoxide, which is harmful to health, and increases creosote build-up in the chimney, which raises the risk of a chimney fire.

Clean the chimney regularly (about every 20 hours of use) to prevent excessive creosote build-up, which can restrict airflow and increase the risk of a chimney fire. We recommend a Winnerwell® pipe brush for cleaning the chimney.

The user is responsible for the safe use of this wood stove.
