Overview

In three days we make a loop around Hiiumaa by bicycle, with a support vehicle accompanying the trip. Hiiumaa is a land of flat beaches, berry forests, juniper trees and solitude. It is the smallest yet most forested county in Estonia. It is an island where time cannot really be measured, because life here is guided by the sea, the winds and the sunlight.

In Hiiumaa people know how to value what is truly important: peace, soul-soothing nature views and time spent with family. It is hard to find a more naturally varied place in Estonia than the island of Hiiu. Landscape types and scenes change at a dizzying speed. Equally beautiful and miniature, they weave together exactly so as to make Hiiumaa what it is.

Thanks to the surrounding sea, the climate of Hiiumaa differs from mainland Estonia. There are more sunny days and less rain. On the trip a support vehicle helps and takes care of the hiking equipment. Tired of the constant noise and endless rush of city life? In Hiiumaa the senses can rest and the soul find refreshment.

Participation fee includes

• Organisational costs
• One night in a forest cabin (with sauna and washing facilities)
• Support vehicle costs
• Use of Primus camping stoves
• Rental of a tent sauna

Participation fee does not include

• Meals (can be ordered if needed or topped up along the way and kept in the support vehicle)
• Ferry tickets
• Hiking equipment (rent hiking equipment from us at a discount)
• A bicycle (if you do not have one, ask and we will help you find a suitable one)

What to prepare

• A bicycle in good technical condition (mountain bike or hybrid bike)
• A bicycle bag or a backpack properly fixed to the frame
• Gloves, helmet, headlamp and sunglasses or sports glasses
• Tent, sleeping gear
• Weather-appropriate clothing plus a change of clothes
• A spare inner tube and some tools (we can share tools if needed)
• First aid supplies
• Drinking bottle or hydration bag
• Swimwear, towel
• Hiking food and snacks (supplies can be topped up along the way and kept in the support vehicle)
• Dishes and cutlery
• We send a detailed information letter to participants

What to expect

• We take a look at churches
• A few selfies at the famous Hiiumaa Eiffel Tower
• We travel through ancient and scenic places
• We drag our feet on the beautiful sandy beaches of Hiiumaa
• We visit a museum and military sites
• Rest in a tent and a forest cabin and shared campfire evenings
